Not knowing why (highway one deviaton 4)

about

It's been a long and winding road since those heady days of February, but the anti-hero of our saga exists in a realm outside of temporal concerns. Don't stare - but glance casually at him, standing there on the shore - braced against the chill and lost in his own space.

It may not be an ocean that he sees. It might just be a metaphor. And if we stared into his eyes, could we see beyond the scantily clad sirens of his imagination, curled seductively on futons suggestively lit by lava lamps? And if we did, would we lose ourselves in that inky void that lurks behind all lust and conquest, doomed to walk these shores forever, with no companion but the salt on our breath and the small marine creatures in our socks?

A metaphysical problem needs a metaphysical man.

The basis for this piece was yet another of the drum and bass jams recorded by the masterful Joel Dolben and myself in early 2014. It was further embellished last week by the wonderful guitar work of Tobias De Maine (who you might remember from such bands as New Group, The Death Cobra, and The Antisocial Club).
