Nature's cruellest mistake

about

'Toxic Al' was originally intended as a piss-take 'Fatboy Slim' style name - how Norman Cook became one of the world's biggest names in production music when he just isn't very good at it is beyond me - maybe he had the right look? Anyway, I got the name Toxic Al when I was working in Brisbane's Bulimba shipyards. There was this guy there called Al who would paint the antifouling (really nasty barnacle-killing paint) on the hulls of boats dressed only in a pair of shorts - with a shirt tied round his face for extra protection. The foreman and the storeman had a running gag going with calling the poor sap Toxic Al (not to his face) and I thought it'd be a funny name for an electronic artist. I wonder if he's still alive? Somehow I doubt it...
